Ever wondered why there isn’t a rain coat for your legs? After all, when conditions change, wouldn’t it be nice to just zip on or off the same protection for your lower half as you can for your upper body? Well, in a classic case of “why hasn’t someone done this sooner”, the VEAR Legs Jacket presents just that, and it’s quite well thought out, too.

Available in two materials, they start at just $89 in their Kickstarter Super Early Bird deals for the basic version. Or opt for the Performance version and you get a higher tech fabric. Both are waterproof and windproof, feature reflective sections on the lower leg and fold up into their own pocket. Oh, and they can be put in on under 15 seconds…

The material protects you from the elements and fits over most jeans or dress pants. It’s also breathable, so you won’t be soaking yourself from the inside out just to keep the rain off. They use YKK zippers the full length of the legs on the outside, letting you easily zip them into place without having to remove your shoes.

The project just launched on Kickstarter and is well on their way to meeting their modest $22,000 funding goal. If they hit bigger targets, they’ll add more sizes, colors and even a kids version.

Also known as “Full Side-Zip Rain Pants” I’ve had a par for over 10 years (that I paid about $40 for) that are about due for replacement. I will certainly consider these among my options, but there is nothing new or innovative here. Appears to be a well-made product made by good folks, which is what should be emphasized, rather than faux innovation.

couldn’t agree more. I feel like we have seen a number of these articles recently where it is made to seem like this company has a new idea. maybe some of the idea is new but full zip pants are far from new and hey you could amazon prime a few different brands today!

Well said. This is a sweet respite from the bike posted earlier today that has cranks on the handlebars. I am still recovering from the eye shock…

Almost every major outdoor brand already makes a pair of waterproof trousers. This isn’t really an innovation

Beacause…. zippers or velcro is uncomfortable at the knee joint and will rub. Think about how many times your knee bends while riding. Then add a tiny scratch to the skin every time it bends.
