There will be new bikes, new bike fashion, hands-on bike tests, plus several different types of racing from fixed gear crits to cyclocross, oh and the parties. Gear news

  • Rubbers coming to a bike park near you – With minimal packaging and a label that doubles as a tire boot or patch to get you back on the trail quickly, Rubbers mountain bike tubes are partnering with North American bike parks to make fixing flats more accessible. After having been the primary tube supplier to several Whistler retailers, they are broadening out and hope to make it easier to get ahold of a spare, even looking to add tube vending machines in some parks in the coming year. • The Sufferfest just released three new videos exclusively through their app, and now they’ve launched a Windows version of that app in Beta. The full version is set to release November 4, at which point it’ll have all the bells and whistles, but for now you can at least see your power data on screen and stream any of their videos…you just can’t download them for offline use yet or have it control your trainer. Patience, padawan.

IRONMAN

  • Unless you’ve missed this entire week of crazy new tri bikes being released, you know it’s about time for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in Kona. The bike above is the Ventum being raced by Leanda Cave. Pic is from Paul Lew of Edco, who was on hand to help set up the wheels alongside Ventum owner Jimmy Seear. How many other athletes do you think have the company owners wrenching on their bikes?

Shallower rims, yes. Because really, who spends most of their riding time at +/- 7 degrees to the gusty winds?
