Maxxis’ lineup has added some very capable looking new tires for cyclocross and gravel, all of which are tubeless ready, and an oversized collection of new plus and “wide” tires to fit the growing size of modern mountain bike rims.

Shown above, the All Terrane is a 700x33c all-conditions tread with medium knob height and good spacing. The center knobs are ramped for fast rolling. It, along with the 33mm wide file tread Speed Terrane (shown below) get their Exo casing protection. Claimed weight is 395g (60tpi) and 375g (120tpi).

The Speed Terrane comes in at 415g (60tpi) and 395g (120tpi) with thick side knobs to help out in the corners. Both options on both tires have a carbon fiber folding bead.

Not shown, the Raze (which they’ve had in their line for a while) gains a tubular option that comes in at a mere 430g with their supple Silkworm casing.

Moving over to gravel and adventure bikes, the new Ravager is a knobby 700x40c option for looser trails. It uses a dual compound rubber with 60tpi SilkShield (530g) and 120tpi EXO (485g) options.

The Rambler adds a smaller 38mm wide option for riders looking to gain a small speed and weight advantage over the original (and still available) 700×40. The 700×38 comes in 60tpi (435g) and 120tpi (400g) casings.

2017-maxxis-revolt-e-bike-tire01

The e-bike movement isn’t lost on Maxxis. The new Re-Volt – 700x47c eBike trekking tire is their first tire designed from the ground-up as an eBike tire.

For the dirt, they’ve reworked the Ardent, Ikon and High Roller II to meet eMTB standards for speed and bike weight safety.

The 26+ trend is also getting some love. Though not listed on the placard, the DHF and DHRII get a 26×2.80 alongside the  27.5×2.80 and 29×3.0 tires.

New 27.5×2.60 options come for the Rekon and Forekaster, joining the 2.8 width as part of their “Wide Trail” lineup optimized for 35mm inner width rims to offer a larger volume MTB tire that feels more like a high volume tire and less like a plus-bike tire. Weights TBD.

Throw in the Chronicle’s new 29×3.0 and Minion FBF and FBR tires and Maxxis has just about every tire width option you could want.

2017-maxxis-highroller-2-plus-275x28-01

The Highroller II gains some oversized options with new 26×2.3, 27.5×2.4 and 29×2.3 sizes. All three use their dual 120tpi casings for massive pinch and puncture protection.

Even the XC tires get some new widths and sizes.

Four of the treads -DTH, Minion DHR, Ikon and Ardent- get a new skinwall option. Tech and features are the same, but it’s a killer retro look.

Any info for what makes the Re-Volt e-bike specific? Really curious to know what’s different

The Re-Volt and our other eBike tires use our SilkShield bead-to-bead protective layer to offer a reinforced casing in order to handle the added speed and load capacity eBikes offer. Compared to our other trekking tires, the Re-Volt includes a much thicker tread for increased longevity and wear characteristics given the added weight and speed of e-cargo bikes and e-trekking bikes.

Everything looks good but where’s the double down 26×2.3 and 2.4 options for the dhr2, and dhf? I’m tired of supporting schwalbe just for their super gravity casings.

Rest assured bearcol, DD constructions are coming soon in 26×2.30 for the Minion DHF, Minion DHR II, Minion SS, and High Roller II tread patterns. 26″ DoubleDown tires are already available in the newer Aggressor and Tomahawk patterns.

Are all those skinwall now tubeless ready? That would be great news.

Wish Maxxis would roll with a 35C CX tire. The Terrane in a 35c or even 38c looks like it might be the bomb.

Thanks for the feedback. We are looking closely at the 700x38c size as it offers a small enough tire to clear a lot of dedicated CX bikes and shaves a little weight for the gram counters on gravel bikes.

Awesome! 38 is the max clearance for my frame but my favorite treads (that fit) all currently top out at 33.

We do have the Rambler coming out soon in a 700x38c which sounds like should fit your frame perfectly.

I may be blind, but did I miss a date of availability for the new additions?

Hey Danny,

Which tires were you looking for specifically? A lot of the new plus, skinwall, and Doubledown additions are already available. The rest of the new tires will be coming into the US over the next few months.

I love the look of the speed terrane for my sscx rig, and the ravager may be my tire for the DK200. I’ll keep checking the website.

Maxxis, why so few offerings in your Maxx Grip compound? I only see DH tires using it but it would be great to see it on the non DH tires. Steep, wet conditions like we have here in Vancouver call for a good all mountain tire (TR, EXO) in Maxx Grip.

Maxxis is there any chance of a Minion SS in a 2.6 or 2.8 size ? That would be a perfect tire for desert riding in the southwest !
