Considering that Juliana is essentially the women’s specific arm of Santa Cruz Bicycles, it should make sense that when Santa Cruz makes spec changes, Juliana will probably follow suit. Now with SRAM Eagle apparently rolling off the production line in higher numbers, Juliana can offer their X01 and XX1 builds with the new 1×12 hotness. On the flipside, SRAM’s NX drivetrain has had the opposite effect – instead of more gears and wider range, NX offers a legitimate 1x option at an even more affordable price. Even though Juliana is not offering the aluminum versions of their bikes a la Santa Cruz, the carbon versions will come in at an all time low price point.

Just $3,599 will get you a carbon beauty with a SRAM NX R1x build group, along with a few other new details…

Juliana still doesn’t believe in “women’s specific geometry.” For more details on why, they have a new Why Juliana? section of their website that will help to answer just that. It also delves into details on the bikes’ specific shock tunes and little details like women’s touch points which includes their new saddle. Now featuring a stylish new cover and a slimmer profile, the saddle will be standard on all bikes with the XX1 builds upgrading to the same saddle but with carbon fiber rails.

As revealed along with the new Tallboy, the new Juliana Joplin will be sold in both 27+ and 29″ options. These two bikes join the Furtado (above, top) and Roubion (below, left) to round out the line of three frames with 4 different builds. One final key update includes the change to 30t chainrings for all 1x builds with the exception of Eagle – those bikes will still run 32t thanks to their wider cassette ranges.

Looking at that photo and recalling how many times my rims catch loose stones rolling over the rims, I wouldn’t want to run rear derailleur that close to the ground. It’s just a very expensive disaster waiting ro happen.

long cage derailleurs were as long, so its hard to say how much of a real issue it is (though granted we might have been pushing bikes less hard 10y ago when everyone had long cage)

I agree. It’s time to bring back bright fun colors for mountain biking. Black is so boring.
