Look is celebrating in style for the 30th anniversary of the company’s first Tour de France victory. The year was 1986 when Greg Lemond claimed the yellow jersey on the first production carbon fiber frame. Since then, carbon has revolutionized the cycling industry. Now in 2016, Look pushes carbon fiber, and design, to the limit with the 30th anniversary edition 795 Aerolight and Keo Blade 2 pedals. Check out this unique duo after the break…

The 30th anniversary edition of the Look 795 Aerolight is offered in both a complete bike build and pure frameset option. Two additional versions of the frame are available, giving you the choice of having Look’s integrated brake system (Aerolight) or a more conventional setup (Light).  All of the iterations will model a Mondrian-inspired color scheme. Sales begin for authorized Look dealers in the US & Canada this July.

The components made by Look include:

  • all carbon ZED3 crankset
  • E-Post 2 seatpost
  • integrated Aerostem
  • ADH handlebar

Sram’s eTap shifters and derailleurs provide the bike with smooth wireless shifting. Additionally the Aerolight frameset includes totally internal cable routing, while the HSC8 aero fork houses Look’s integrated brakeset. The complete build will go for $14,500 while the frame is priced at $7,900.

Being one of the first companies to spearhead clipless pedals, Look will also offer a special anniversary edition Keo Blade 2 to match the bike. Included with the pedals are 2 pairs of commemorative 30th socks. The full tech details of these Keos is below:

The pedals share a matching Mondrian paint scheme from the bottom on their carbon spring, while on top they sport a 30th anniversary badge. Posted weight per pedal is 110g, with the cleats and hardware bringing the set up to a light 288g total. The 30th anniversary pedals carry a price tag of $320 and are also available from next month.

Wow. 1450 usd(?!) This is getting pretty ridiculous. I work in the industry, and even when paying “straight from the factory” prices, bikes are getting crazy expensive these days.
I mean, how many frameset do they plan selling at 7900 usd? Espec when you can get very high performance (and complete) bikes, who are probably as good as top of the line 2-3 years ago, for half that?

I believe their frames are made in France. Any of the bikes still manufactured in Europe will have significantly higher costs versus those from Taiwan.

Yeac, but still; Merida, Specialized (both produced by Merida in Taiwan), Trek, Cervelo are all pushing beyond the 10k mark. And while RD+Design+Production++ cost combined might equate to something of a “fair” price. Its still a huge amount of money for a bike.

@Nico you forgot a zero! You right though. Even being a special edition brand new 5 years from now it won’t have to value they are asking.

It’s a matter of time before this false ceiling crashes down

Love the 695. The style of the 795 is just a bit too weird for me, especially in a large frame size. Proportions look strange.

BTW, your article title says ‘798’

Omg they need to stop with that terrible frame design. It looks like a friggin Bison. I miss the 586 days, Looks were hot.

Ah the 585. Probably my favorite road bike ever. I worked at a Look dealer in the 585’s heyday… must have ‘demoed’ one something like 50 times.

Thankyou, I thought the frame design looked odd but somehow familiar; bison is exactly right!

Own a 795, really awesome bike. Everything is just tight about it. Very light considering frame+crankset package. Aero, with a very good vibration damping and nice steering plus a lot of adjustability. What one could want ? It’s perfect. Btw some frameset are available in france brand new for less than 4000euros. Expensive but less than most high end taiwanese bike (madone 9 venge vias for exemple).

Look have always marketed their products at the premium buyers – they are not worried too much about factory production line sales like the other Tiawanese manufacturers.. This is a funny analogy but it like Kia and Maserati .. two different selling models ..and buyers..
I have toured their factory – and yes all made in France it also owns a manufacturing factory in Tunisia
To me their products have always been unique, innovative and top notch .. they tend innovate not follower eg: they have many patents they they still make money off e.g.: integrated seat post.
