When SRAM eTAP wireless shifting debuted, it offered traditional drop bar levers with shift levers in the usual spot and aero bar end Blip buttons connected to a Blipbox for TT and triathlon bikes. The Blips were the same rubber coated low profile buttons provided with the standard levers and could be placed anywhere. They even added BlipClamps and BlipNodes mounting clips to make it easier. Now, though, they’ve added dedicated all-in-one shifter button type for TT/tri called Clics.

Clics put a simple “clicker” style button on the end of the aero bar that mounts flush with the ends and lets you shift without having to change your grip or hand position. It pops into place without tools, but you’ll need be able to run the wire inside the bar to connect them to the Blipbox. They’re available with 500mm and 650mm wires, will fit bars with an inner diameter of 19mm – 21.5mm, and weigh just 32g per pair. Retail is $110 (€120 / £95), available in July 2016.

Do you need a blipbox or can they connect directly to one of the blip ports on the back of a normal dropbar eTap shifter?

The fact they aren’t an expander design makes me cringe a little. I know since it is being pushed into the bar, it doesn’t need to be very secure, but those ribs don’t look very durable.

Shame they could have fitted the blip box workings in the barend shifter. OK one extra battery but no blip box to hide.
