Ergon has added two new saddles to their range, both with a little extra padding and center channels, and both at the reasonable end of the price spectrum.

Above, the SMC4, is a new price point comfort saddle for general use. The name breaks down as Saddle Mountain Comfort, and the 4 represents its hierarchy in the line (bottom, for now). Prices range from $59.99 to $99.99 depending on materials. It’ll come in medium and large widths. The key difference between it and higher end SMC saddles is the addition of a gel insert to create a thicker padding section and a deeper center channel (base version only gets foam, no gel). The Chromoly rail base and Sport gel versions weigh in at 300g and 315g, respectively (gel adds more weight), both with DuraSkin covers. The Comp model gets TiNox rails and a microfiber cover to come in at 295g.

The SMA3 switches the “C” for an “A”, designating its use as an “all mountain” saddle. As such, it only comes in small and medium widths since you’re more likely to be moving around on, over and off the saddle.

It uses the same shell as their SME enduro saddles, but with more padding and a deeper, longer channel. This one’s meant to be your all-day mountain bike saddle. It comes with either chromoly ($79.95) or Ti-Nox ($99.95) rails. Weights range from 240g to 265g depending on width and material.

The new Fi’zi:k Monte is their version of an enduro saddle. It’s got a slight lift of its tail to help during climbing, but remains narrow so you can slide off the back while descending.

It has a carbon-nylon shell with an extended flex section to help the saddle move with you a little. Come with either Manganese (245g, $90) or Ki:um (230g, $130) rails. Dimensions are 275x143mm, putting it on the wider end of mountain bike saddles.

The rear section gets Cordura reinforcement panels. Available now.

Ergon never again.
They’re absolutely terrible at customer support and have low quality products.
I have GA1 evo grips that have a defect being loose in the middle with an air pocket and not sticking to the bars fully.
Additionally, I also had SMC3 saddle that got destroyed after a small tumble, the rails got bent and jacked after landing as the bike slipped under me, without any additional weight on the bike.
Those rails are made of cheese and there’s no bolt in the nose holding it together so if you pull on the back of the saddle, there’s nothing stopping the rails from deforming and completely ruining the saddle.

Customer support deemed that I had used the saddle improperly, yet I have never managed to damage yet alone trash any other saddle like this.

Maybe their products are made to be viewed at the showroom and not used in practice. That would explain the absolutely horrible quality.

I’ve never seen an Ergon saddle in the wild, only on bike sites. Strange…
