Having launched their unique Linkin Trail carbon 27.5+/29″ trail bike last summer with its fully enclosed rear shock, Bold Cycles is back this spring with a very limited edition of the bike. The original bike got a significantly more muted aesthetic, with a bare carbon look highlighted with either black decals or a touch of color. Now, teaming up their Bold factory rider Sabrina Morell and the Austrian skills camp that aims to get more women into technical trail riding in the Alps, the new Linkin Trail WBC gets a flashy paint job, very small numbers, and a few tweaks for a select group of women to hit the dirt. Details, pricing, and a closer look below the crease…

The Swiss brand will put out just 30 bikes in the Women’s Bike Camp cooperation project this year. The camp partnership came about when Morell, herself a sports physiotherapist, joined on with WBC as a guide to help spread the trail love to other women.

The Linkin Trail WBC geometry and suspension setup remain the same as the standard bike, as Morell has been pleased with the smooth performance of the custom-tuned DT X313 rear shock delivering 130mm of travel out back and the 140mm Rockshox Pike RCT3 fork up front. (Although we’ve seen that Bold is currently working on getting the bikes on a next generation DT Swiss R414 shock that is in the wings.) Even with the hidden shock, suspension on the bike is a breeze to setup, with a large removable downtube plate to get at the shock controls, and a small port on the non-driveside that shows you at a glance that sag is set up properly.

The women’s build gets slim Ergon GE1 grips and a Terry Arteria GT saddle for a better connection to the bike. Component builds are focused on aggressive trail riding, and available in either 27.5+ options with 2.8″ Nobby Nics or  29er with 2.4″ Onza Ibexes. Either wheel size also offers an XT 2×11 drivetrain for 4800€ or a SRAM GX 1x setup for 4700€ (prices without EU VAT).

Everywhere else it keeps the same setup as the original Boosted bike. The Linkin Trail WBC is ready for order now direct from their webshop or through regular Bold dealers, for May 2016 delivery.

Those are air scoops to pull cool air in for the rear shock inside the frame! (There are exit vents to the rear.) Put the Haterade away!
