We had yet to hear about anything in the pipeline, but with the introduction of HT’s T1 Trail/Enduro pedal, the suspicions were high about them coming out with an XC pedal. While visiting their anodized-colored filled booth today, I asked if there was an XC pedal coming out soon… “We’ll have one at Sea Otter”, (April). I asked for a sneak peak, and after a little gleeful staring, “TC” stepped into the closet and came out with this blue puppy.

Check out the New HT M1 pedal and specs as well as some welcome updates to their AE03 flat pedal…

Using the same mechanism as their now popular T1 Trail/Enduro pedal, the M1 trims all the fat off while leaving plenty of surface area for your shoe to rest stable on. The ramp system on the M1 (and T1), has a smooth face to make clipping in easier and gives you 4 degrees of float and a 13 degree exit. Though adding a little weight, the adjustable tension is a welcome feature to many riders that so they can tune the pedal’s grasp on their foot.

Weighing in at 298 grams, the steel spindled M1 ($129) weighs 60 grams less than the T1, (and 12 grams lighter than XTR’s), but will also be available with a titanium spindle (price TBD), dropping the weight down to pretty respectable 252 grams. Like the T1 pedals, the M1 cross country pedals will be available in 12 vibrant colors and are currently being run under the foots of the Giant Factory Off-Road team & Focus XC team.

Also new’ish, is their updated EVO AE03 super thin flat pedals. The outside hasn’t changed, but to beef things up, they improved the internals without upping the $160 price.

The outer spindle now gets a needle bearing and on the inner section, they added a Igus bushing that is twice as hard as the previous one it replaced.

cxmagazine.com had a pic of these a while back. They look cool – kind of a mix of Time and Shimano.

Another player in the market of XC pedals. Rotating float seems to be ok.
