Aimed at the amateur road race market, Catlike’s new Olula borrows tech and a bit of the look of their top-level helmets at a more affordable price point. Slotting in just below their premium Mixino and above the Whisper the new Olula offers a lot of value in a light and well ventilated lid. Take a closer look, below the fold…

The Olula uses a removable strap system, where the adjustment/retention straps can be easily detached from the helmet for easy washing. The ability to remove the straps also means that they can be changed out to either customize the color combo, or just to refresh the feel of the helmet after a few seasons. Also, since Catlike’s helmets tend to have big open, forward facing vents, the Olula gets an anti-insect mesh net that keeps both bugs and debris from blowing into its shell while riding.

For secure and comfortable fit around the head, the Olula gets Catlike’s precise MPS eVo retention system with four points of adjustment. Its dial wheel delivers tiny, precise adjustment, the rear gets two height adjustments, and combined with interchangeable padding on the helmet’s side wings you get a fit that suits several different head shapes.
The helmet also incorporates the Thermy-tex anti-bacterial padding of Catlike’s new 2015 helmets that keeps slimy growth (and odor) at bay. It also claims to do an even better job pulling perspiration away from the head and to be more durable.

The new helmet comes in three sizes S, M & L for heads from 54-62cm around. The small claims a weight of just 250g, with 20g more for a medium, and up to 300g for the large. The Olula will come in a wide range of colors: white, red/white, black/white, blue/black, red/black, pink/black, white/black, fluorescent yellow/black, and team fluoro yellow. The made-in-Spain helmet will for 130€ when it is available by the end of this month through regular Catlike retailers.

Looks great but 250g for a small is not a lightweight helmet. I’m not a weight weenie but I do have neck problems from an accident and can feel the difference between my 215g Bontrager and 265g Giro during a long ride. It would be nice if more companies made light helmets that are light, at least one from every brand

Just weighed my medium at 255g with full-length straps (before trimming after fitting)

Maybe the Euro certified helmet. Their website has it at 220 and 240 for a medium. That’s OK light. My Bontrager is 215 and my Specialized Prevail is actually less than advertised at 210 but it’s getting raggety

Nice to see another company making helmets outside of China.
