Brandon Semenuk

It’s no secret Freeriders don’t just keep “it” all on the bike and in many cases anything with wheels is fair game. Subaru Canada sacrificed one of their new CrossTreks to help Brandon get to some serious loam and the always cool as ice Semenuk does it like any rich blooded mountain biker should….

Is anyone sick of advertainment yet? I just realized after a minute that I was wasting time watching an ad that had nothing to do with mountain biking to promote a car that doesn’t even have a turbo? click. off.

Agreed. That 2L engine is weak. I’ll check back in when the crosscheck has a WRX powertrain and 6 speed manual transmission. That be a party car.

Eeew…what???

Looking at the video I’m mostly impressed by the bike carrier on top of the car that is able to hold on to the bike despite that clear illustration of erratic driving on hillbilly roads where no other traffic, bikes or pedestrians can be expected. Who makes the carrier – Thule?

Do you think he just picks up another subaru at the bottom and drives back to the top so he can do another run?

This makes me want to not buy a Subaru even more than my current Subaru (yes I hate it and it’s literally brand new – 2016). About the only good thing is that it was relatively cheap, but it feels cheap too, so…

This Thule Big mouth starts by holding the bike on the frame and at the ends it only hold the chain ring??? Next step the pedals smash the roof and the bike only holds by the wheelstraps.

Yes, just the kind of DA you want to encounter out on backroads.

When Semenuk isn’t busy riding his bike he’s a competitive rally driver with some decent results to his name. Considering that this is an ad, it’s most definitely shot on a closed road with all the safety precautions that can be undertaken while driving a car sideways around gravel corners. Those safety precautions include a trained rally driver, in this case Semenuk himself.

Or are you the kind of person for whom the “Don’t try this on your local roads, shot on a closed course” disclaimers are made for?

Because we don’t already hate shuttlers enough.

And for the record the video is BS. One can’t easily disable Subaru’s VDC in a manner that will allow drifting or trail braking to tighten the line as was done. It can be defeated by wiring up a kill switch but it defeats ABS as well.

So, fine for a commercial, but no Crosscheck XV you buy will actually let one drive like this unless you mod it.

well most people who buy a mountain bike won’t be able to do the things in this video either so what’s the difference, it looks cool though.
