All Mountain Style claimed that their pared-down, low-stack 31.8 mountain stem set a benchmark for all-mountain and enduro riding. And now they have taken that same technology and expanded it for a new, even stiffer Om stem to match the latest move to even larger 35mm diameter handlebars. The new machined stem is still just 45mm long and will pair well with the newest crop of ultra wide bars for better control on the new long toptube, slack headtube angle bikes the industry has moved towards. Take a closer look after the break…

Manufactured just outside of AWS’s Barcelona base, the new Om Stem 45 weighs in at just 140g, only 19g more than the 31.8 version. The 45mm stem has 0° rise, a 55mm wide bar clamping area, and fits atop 1 1/8″ steerers. Their previous stem had a super low 30mm stack height, but with the switch to the larger diameter bar they’ve upped that to a still low 35mm stack to further benefit from the increased rigidity of the even more oversized stem:bar interface.

Both the 35mm and 31.8mm diameter stems are available direct from AWS or through their distributors around the world for 135€. AWS’s UK enduro ambassador Richard Payne says though that “once you shift to oversized bars, you’ll never come back”, so be forewarned.
