No, not the high round house kicking Texas Ranger, but an ambassador for all things adventurous on bikes. Blackburn, one of the earlier pioneers in adventures on bikes, (known as panniering and randonneuring back in the day), is still one of the largest producers for adventure specific equipment for the bike. There has been a pretty strong movement for various types of bike adventures including road touring, bikepacking, randonneuring, trans-epics, and even gravel and off the beaten path rides where getting lost is the goal, and Blackburn is taking full advantage.

To celebrate and grow the culture they’ve always been a part of, Blackburn launched the Ranger Program a few years ago where a hand full of adventure loving souls get chosen to enjoy some rock star treatment in exchange for… well, talking about and doing what they love. Wander past the break to see all the glorious loot and route options involved and how you can apply…

The requirements and responsibilities listed below may motivate one to quit their job since a fully supported adventure of a lifetime is pretty enticing. Do you have what it takes? Check out the video above and fill out their online application if you think you do. You’ll be required to tell Blackburn who you are, what you’re about, and what makes you stand out, create a YouTube video with the hashtag #beablackburnranger2016, and finally demonstrate your social media reach. You have until February 14, 2016 to apply.

Route Info from Blackburn:

*The Pacific Coast Route covers 1,852 miles from Vancouver, British Columbia to Imperial Beach, California. Consisting of beautiful roads lining the Pacific Ocean, Rangers will use touring bicycles and Blackburn racks and panniers to carry necessities along the way.

*The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is an off road route that was originally mapped by the Adventure Cycling Association, from Banff, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico, a distance of 2,740 miles. Great Divide Rangers will ride mountain bikes, whether rigid or suspended, and use bike packing bags strapped to their frames, handlebars and saddles. Lights, pumps and computers from Blackburn will keep them rolling and safe.

Partners for the 2016 Ranger program: Bell, Niner, Giro, BROOKS, SCRAM, WTB and Big Agnes. This means that the selected rangers will be fully equipped with beautiful Niner bikes, helmets, clothing and camping gear. A travel stipend will be provided to help achieve the goal of completing the route.
