  • USA BMX opens a new Supercross Track in Oldsmar, Florida – Last week USA BMX held an inaugural race at their new facility. Oldsmar has developed a lot of BMX history as a premier venue since 2001, that has grown so much in the last ten years that they needed a new venue, so rebuilt it from the ground up into the new Olympic caliber BMX Supercross track for everything from local series races to a training ground for the World’s best BMX racers and Olympic hopefuls. Check out USABMX.com to find out more and see upcoming events at Oldsmar.

Advocacy & Awareness

  • Alex Doty takes over the reigns of the League of American Bicyclists – The 20,000 member strong League welcomes Doty to take over as executive director, coming from its Greater Philly office where helped make Philadelphia the most-biked big city in the US. Having gone from cycling volunteer to director of the League, he brings leadership and a commitment to cycling inclusion and equity to the post. Check out the good work of the League over at BikeLeague.org.
  • Get in on a Voxwomen Ass Saver Award – Anyone could be worthy of an Ass Saver Award, maybe your best teammate, a mechanic, the team soigneur, or even a special fan. We introduced you to the Voxwomen’s Ass Saver a few weeks back, but now the women’s cycling video specialists want to single out those behind the scenes who go out of their way on race day to help others. At each event they attend they’ll be seeking out the deserving chosen one who will take home an Ass Saver and pride of place on  their Twitter and Youtube feeds. Check out the first video award that went to Sane Cant’s dad.
  • Red Bull’s Rampage got the better of Paul Basagoitia – Not everyone walked off crazy crashes at this year’s Rampage. Five-time competitor Paul crashed hard and fractured his T12 vertebrae, and is now entered rehab to see if an when he will walk again, let alone ride. For those who are interested, the Road2Recovery Foundation set up a fundraising page to help get him back on his feet, and you can follow along with his recovery at IRideforPaul.com.

And Now for Something Completely Different…

  • Ninja Cross Training for those Tougher Cross Obstacles, Maybe? – Bikerumor’s founder Tyler interviewed two time American Ninja Warrior competitor Nate Burkhalter to see what it takes to get on the show. Maybe he has some insight we can use to get over the next generation of crazy barriers we might find on this year’s World Single Speed Cyclocross Championships? Check it out over on Crashfit.com.
