If you’ve been watching this year’s Tour de France, it’s likely you’ve caught a glimpse of Rudy Project’s latest on an array of teams in the Peloton. The Tralyx is a new shield-style sunglass from the Italian eyewear and helmet company that’ll be available in the coming months. Peer past the break for more images and info…

“This year, we have a truly diverse field of athletes battling it out in the Peloton, all wearing Rudy’s absolutely latest performance sunglasses…With feedback from these riders, we’ve crafted an absolutely stunning new sunglass design, engineered to be lightweight, well ventilated to prevent fogging, and beyond all measure, comfortable in the heat of battle,” said Paul Craig, President of Rudy Project North America.

The lightweight and ventilation characteristics of the design appear to come from a series of aggressive cut-outs along the frame of the design. Look for it on riders from Cofidis, EuropCar, Astana, Bora-Argon 18, IAM, and the entire LottoNL-Jumbo team.

It appears that Mr. Craig availed himself of the “Buy One, Get One Free” special at Superlative Mart.

Yup, I’ve been watching every stage of the tour. I have a complete, comprehensive list of the glasses of each and every rider. Its my favorite part of the tour. Next season, I’m going to start a gambling pool for who will wear what, on what stage and it what weather…I’m gonna make a fortune from all the other “eyewear aficionados”

I’m surprised RP doesn’t have their sponsored teams their helmets with their glasses. In that first picture the “Bell” logo on the helmet totally stands out more than the sunglasses.

I see how they were trying to be creative with the venting through the frame, but that seems to have kept them from expanding their upper field of view like the Radar EV. I also don’t really see a clipping point at the frame sides like you’d find with half-rim shield pairs in general, leading me to believe the lenses are actually held by the nose piece alone?

People tend to hate on Oakley, but Rudy costs just as much (if not more), the execution is more questionable imo, and the selection seems to have redundancies. I think the only allure is the pairs being made in Italy…if that’s still the case

For some reason when I see the name Rudy Project I just think like cheap knock off stuff. Kind of like Poser name or something.

When you are the same price of oakley, why would I not buy oakleys?

There are lots of reasons to not buy Oakleys. One very simple and obvious one is that a person might like the look of a particular Rudy pair better than the looks of any Oakley glasses. Frankly, I think Oakleys are butt ugly, but that’s just my opinion. Of course it is only the buyer’s opinion that matters.

@Psi – LOL these are basically a knockoff of the Oakley Radar. Look at the last pic, you can barely tell the difference between the two guys’ glasses. What glasses do you buy that are so much better looking than Oakleys?

There is more to sport sunglasses than fashion ya (deleted).

Rudy Project has optical quality that is much higher than most brands. Plus the ImpactX lenses are pretty much unbreakable.

Fashion wise, all brands pretty much follow the same trends. Personally, I think most Oakley’s make you look like a goon who shops at the local mall.

rudy project optics, like their awful looking helmets, are just a bore…..they are always at expo’s of various events, trying to get their products out there and noticed. and almost always offering some type of blowout pricing-today only…….its kind of like the wall art that a friend of mine has at his house once you walk in….a big piece of art that says, “free beer tomorrow”…….

Oakley lenses are Z87+ safety rated and are made to have the highest optical clarity. Not to mention they’ve been in the lens game for 30 years now, so I’d say they are pretty advanced in their tech. They are sold in malls because they are arguably the biggest name in sunglasses right now. How’s that for ‘more than fashion’?

Oakley glasses just don’t fit my face. Every so often I order some just to make sure but end up sending them back. Rudy P’s do fit my face and are more adjustable. Perhaps I’d want my current glasses to be a little bigger and if they fog up less, great. I’ll order a pair when they’re out just to see if they are any better.
