With a 400lb cargo capacity, Pedego’s new Stretch cargo bike is designed to haul anything and everything. There are a lot of things to like about the Pedego Stretch. It’s extremely stylish, with painted to match fenders, rims, front and rear racks, and chainguard and three color options in red (shown), black, and olive green. It’s also designed with quick releases for the stem and seat clamp so that the fit can be changed quickly and easily for different riders. It features a large comfort saddle for an upright riding position in traffic with a shock on the seat post to soak up bumps in the road.
The front rack is rigidly mounted to the head tube so your load doesn’t turn with the bike. The rear rack features several modular components. The decks on either side can be attached low for footrests or mounted high to carry large volume packages. The back rest component can be removed and flipped to give the upper deck more support longer cargo. Either component can be completely removed to save weight. Oh, and to save tiny legs, there are removable rear wheel skirts on either side. Front and rear powered lights are also standard so you are always visible.
This model features a throttle on the right grip, which would come in very handy for getting the bike going when fully loaded at 400lbs. Otherwise, it features five levels of pedal assist for when you get going for a more natural riding experience. In either throttle or pedal assist configuration, the Stretch has a top assisted speed of 20mph. The rear drive 500W Pedego motor is powered by a 48V 13Ah Lithium Ion battery that nests behind the seat tube, though there is an option for a greater capacity 17Ah battery upgrade for $300 if you need it. The stock battery comes in at 12lb and is easily removable for charging by tipping up the saddle. The LCD interface on the left of the handlebar has an interface for a charger for your phone or music player.
The Stretch features a Shimano Tourney 7-speed shifter with a 1×7 drivetrain. The model comes standard with self-sealing tires to prevent flats and utilizes SRAM BB7 disc brakes to help with stopping. A double kickstand keeps the machine stopped when you’re not on it.
