Nitro Circus Jed Mildon screenshot quad back flip

It seems every time we see the latest video to come out of the Nitro Circus camp, we say to ourselves – They’ve done it. That is the craziest thing we will see on a bike. That lasts anywhere from a few days to a few years, but inevitably, the crew comes back with another even more impressive feat that seems to defy the laws of gravity and/or physics.

Most recently, the quest for the next big trick involved not one, but two riders with Jed Mildon and James Foster going head to head for the glory that comes with being the first. The first to land a quadruple (!) backflip on a BMX bike. Yes, the trick required a custom built ramp but it also required unbelievable commitment and a willingness for some gnarly crashes. Check out the video next…

We can’t guarantee you’ll see a quad backflip, but you can check out the insanity of the Nitro Circus in person when the show comes to a town near you.

“…will go down in history.” Sure…until someone does a quintuple backflip. At which point this achievement will fade into non-existence like all the others which came before. I hope all the pain and broken bones were worth it. First person to name the individual who first did a triple backflip WITHOUT googling it gets kudos from me.

@Michael: Pretty sure it was the same guy who just landed the quad.

It’s a lot of pain and hobbling for the rest of one’s life for a couple seconds of flipping around like a fish in the open air. But you have to take your hats off for these guys for sure. Serious sackage, no doubt about it.

Miron did the first double back in the 90s, and Jed threw the first triple & quad.

@michael // It’s easy to write this off as just another circus trick, but if you grew up riding BMX, or are still in it today, you’ll have no problem remembering such a huge accomplishment.

Props to Jed & James! Almost killed themselves to progress the sport.. I give it a max of 2 years before action sport contests start to include a secondary booter for tricks like this..

I’m waiting for “12 yr old lands quad flip!!!” ha #progression

Amazing.
I hope they are getting paid well (or at least use the fame in the bike world to sell frames/components).

Very impressive! But too much risk and cost in health in exchange for what? Money? Fame? Not worth it.
