OH GOD! I did DK200 (actually DK216 but that’s another story) and the wind was the “only” thing I had to deal with and it was. I could only image having to deal with hub depth water.

Great picture and hats off to everyone who rode 200 miles in dirt in that weather. That must have been really tough on the drivetrain

The rider is Tim Ahern during the 2015 DK200 as he rolls through puddles near the Bazaar cattle pens. The photo was taken by Dave Leiker, on that day a stringer for the KC Star.
Almost exactly a year later, in Connecticut, Tim and two other bikers were hit by a pickup truck leaving Ahern with head injuries and compound leg fractures. He climbed to even grater hero status in my book by training by to strength and finishing another punishing Dirty Kanza gravel grinder in 2017,
