In that many data tracking apps seem to focus on collecting and juxtaposing as many forms of data as possible, the Vima represents a departure. Not everyone is a data fiend with the need to record and preserve every point of data associated with a ride. The people who developed Vima are sympathetic to this less obsessed crowd, or even riders just wanting to dabble in data, having developed a simple but well-thought out GPS tracking application for cycling. It does the basics, is extremely intuitive, and now comes with a version compatible for your Apple Watch…

When many apps focus on jamming many features into a single package, Vima strives to focus on what many riders and cyclists need or will actually use and develops those particular elements into highly intuitive and effortless elements that appeal to the average user. To start, for example, just open the app and tap “record” and you’re on your way. There is a simple pause feature, and the app shows you in real time your speed, activity time, and distance. If you don’t want to stare at your phone, there is an option for Voice Feedback at designated intervals (time or distance) to give you progress or simple stats. Again, set up for these options is designed to be simple and extremely intuitive.

At the end of a given ride, you are left with basic stats of the ride and a map showing speeds at different points in the trip. The rides are saved in the history for reference and everything is easily to share to Facebook or Twitter designated buttons on the screen.

The recently updated Version 2.0 features Apple Watch compatibility in a similarly intuitive interface.
