Pahoj stroller child seat

It’s always cool to see a product come through Kickstarter, especially when it strives to resolve basic experiential gaps in cycling. The innovative Pahoj easily falls under this category by creating a bicycle child seat that doubles as a stroller, making child-wielding more reasonable while maintaining an active and car-free (or at least limited) lifestyle.

Check out how the Pahoj will replace both your child seat and stroller after the jump…

Seeing an opportunity to help families maintain a healthy, cycling lifestyle while having small children, Pahoj’s inventor Lycke von Schantz sought to design a family focused machine to resolve the challenges of toddler wrangling once everyone arrives at the destination.

The stroller mounts to a bracket that is rigidly fixed to the bike’s seat tube, adjustable for 28mm to 40mm diameters, and is designed to not interfere with existing rack systems so riders can carry rear cargo. It is possible to purchase several brackets so that multiple family members are able to dock the stroller in “pick and drop” scenarios at daycare.

The stroller features an adjustable harness to keep the child secure on or off the bike. Also, the telescopic handle adjusts up to 40.5 inches in height to be functional for adults at a range of heights and can be easily stowed away while the stroller is docked and in motion.

The stroller also includes a functional brake to prevent undesired rolling when on the ground and durable powdercoated chassis to reduce opportunities for wear. It all weighs in at lightweight 7.7lbs when assembled.

The Kickstarter campaign promises all sorts of fun styling scenarios for early adopters and big spenders such as Pahoj with reflective chassis and custom styled seats.

Interesting idea (I have two kids) but it really looks like they need to find a way to extend the stroller handle up a few inches – it looks much too low to be comfortable to push, even for a few minutes. Also, and I have no idea if this is true in use or not, but it looks like the front wheels are positioned in such a way that you’d pitch your kid out of the seat if you hit a pebble with the front wheels. Again, in practice this may not be an issue. Anyway, as a parent, anything that can serve dual duty and save some storage space and hopefully money is great.

Hey Der_kruscher and Gringo!

Thank you for your interest in påhoj and your comments.
I want to underline that there is a telescopic handle that can expand to 103 cm / 40.6 inch which is the standard height of a fixed umbrella strollers. Påhoj has been stability tested at Brio’s former test lab in Osby and the result -steady as a rock! We also have lowered the backrest 10 degrees for maximum comfort.

Have a fantastic day!
