Paragon Machine Works’ new Syntace X-12 dropouts were on hand in finished form (as well as on a few bikes around the show). Teased last fall and formally announced in February, the options include steel, alloy and titanium to accommodate whatever metal frame material a custom builder may use.

Closeups here, plus pics of their standard thru axle dropout, new little tools and upcoming fat and plus sized mountain bike chainstay yokes below…

Part of the appeal of the X-12 axle is it’s stealthy looks. Sure you need a tool to get the wheel out, but it’s lighter and better looking…two facts Rockshox and Fox have recently come to appreciate with their own offerings. The X-12 also lets you adjust wheel camber and angle, too, by rotating the female end inside the frame. These show the standard mount derailleur hanger; a direct mount hanger is available, too, shown below:

Fat bike fans and those jumping onto the new 27.5+ / 29+ bandwagon with a custom bike will be happy to know they’re soon now offering builders these beautiful hollow chainstay yokes with up to 5″ tire clearance.

Rather than a tool that builds in a bottle opener, how ’bout a bottle opener that builds in a couple tools? A pedal wrench and 1/4″ bit socket always come in handy.

Seriously…what is with every person and their mother coming out with a tool/bottle opener combo? If you have a Pedal wrench, you have a bottle opener, no need to add one to it. If you have a rock, you have bottle opener. If you have a table…bottle opener. If you have a bike….guess what…bottle opener. Bottle opener >= Enduro.

BMW: Hey, guess what slick? PMW has been making the same titanium bottle openers longer than you have been riding bikes. The 1/4″ socket is new but the rest has been the same for about 20 years.

Even a Din A4 sheet of paper can open a bottle…

Just as a heads up, all the revenue generated from our promotional goods (bottle openers, t-shirts, hats, socks, etc.) gets donated every month to a different bicycle advocacy group. To help clear out some inventory we’ve put everything on sale (let me know when you can find a pair of USA made merino wool socks for cheaper than $8) and will be donating this months proceeds to help open a new bike park in Novato, CA! Thanks for your support!

Those are ALL syntace dropouts… The second set is just the more traditionally sized flange. Do some fact checking for once.

Didn’t Syntace just release the 2.0 version of their hanger system? Unfortunate timing for Paragon, although they clearly make awesome bits.

@Eric E. Strava: I haven’t heard anything regarding recent updates to their hanger system but if things end up changing, we’ll be sure to retain as much compatibility as possible between Syntace’s products and ours.

Thanks for the heads up and let us know if you have any further details!
