bikerumor pic of the day Imber firing range, Salisbury Plain, bike ride

Photo submitted by Russell Lambert, “I took this recently of my cycling mates, on the Imber firing range, Salisbury Plain, when it was open briefly to the public, you can cycle across it and visit the village that was abandoned when the residents were evicted in 1943. As you cycle across the Plains, you see abandoned tanks & the remains of the village and training grounds.”

We always love to see your photos and would like to show them to the world here on the Pic Of The Day. Send in your photo with a brief description here.

A great experence & place to ride when it’s open.

For 2015 the MoD have confirmed that there will be access to Imber from Friday 3rd April until Monday 6th April, and again from Saturday 8th August until Sunday 23rd August.

(These dates are subject to the usual British Army conditions that the range may be closed at short notice for operational reasons)

Note that it’s mainly gravel/stone tracks rather than normal roads, so robust tyres are advised.
