Celebrating their debut year at NAHBS, Savvy Cycles will be making their argument that wood is good. Following the lead of other outdoor industry product in returning to wood as a viable and environmentally friendly composite base material and inspired by modern heavy timber technology, Savvy’s handmade hickory and ash designs utilize advanced joining methods and adhesives for tough and weight-competitive results.
BIKERUMOR: What are your main building materials?
Mike: We use wood! Hickory, Ash and Sepele.
BIKERUMOR: What’s new with your company since NAHBS last year?
Mike: First time at NAHBS this year. We will be showing wood frame mountain bikes and a fat bike.
BIKERUMOR: Any killer custom bike builds in that time?
Mike: We are working on a wood frame with some colored died woods. First look at the show!
BIKERUMOR: What were some of your newer inspirations for recent bikes?
Mike: Winter brings wet or snowy trails and debris covered roads, so we are developing a Gravel bike for winter road riding and a fat bike for the snow covered trails.
BIKERUMOR: What are you building this year that’ll draw a crowd?
Mike: Our artful wood frames.
BIKERUMOR: If you had to build a bike for a Kentucky Derby style race (think short, all out effort on deep, loose dirt), what would you build and why?
Mike: Light weight Fat Bike to float over the deep loose dirt.
BIKERUMOR: Bourbon or beer?
Mike: Beer!
