Weaver Cycle Works made the short trip from Collingwood, NJ, to show off these beautiful lugged and fillet brazed frames. Above is a disc brake cyclocross bike that joins the tubes with a combination of the methods and comes together with creative parts placements and a nice polished finish.

The tops of the seatstays are brazed to the lug…

…as are the cable stops. This keeps the shift cable housing from rubbing on the frame.

Here’s a more traditional road bike.

His 29er hardtails use a slightly dropped top tube to improve standover clearance. Chainstays are nice and tight for quick east coast handling.

Majaco started in 2011 and drove all the way up from Austin, TX. This touring frame builds in nice lug work with S&S Couplers and an understated gray paint.

His builds are mostly road, touring and singlespeed.

Harvey Cycle Works was named best new builder at NAHBS 2014 and for good reason. His attention to detail on the lugs and features is excellent.

This frame is designed for disc brakes, with internal brake cable ports at the top and bottom of the downtube that then feed to standard external guides on the chainstay.

Rack, fender and frame pump mounts complete the feature set.

This blue one is the award winner and very much worth a look at our coverage from NAHBS.

Braze some rear rack mounts on and that cx weaver looks like a perfect all-around road bike for those that ride in wintery conditions

Not sure I like the seatstay to lug connection though. Seems like there is less brazed area than the tube wall cross-section, and will it therefore be the weak point. I’ll defer to their expertise though (and its hard to tell from pics)

The “braze ons” on the head tubes aren’t braze ons. They’re cast as part of Richard Sachs lugs.

Mark Weaver makes some great bikes. Great guy too. Great coverage for an up and coming builder.

Jbikes: its an extremely common way to attach them. It’s the lowest stress structural connection on the bike, and will hold up fine if done right. There’s probably a bit of a groove filed in the lug to increase surface area as well.

If you like this kind of thing check out the velocipede salon frame builder forum. I’m a newbie, but lurking there has been super informative.
