You’re headed out for a long ride and you’re faced with the same issue you always have. Do you just fill up your bladder with water? Carry an extra bottle of sports drink? Put the sports drink in your hydration pack which will probably stain it permanently? Anyone looking to carry more than one type of hydration has a new option to consider thanks to Source Hydration.

Called the Widepack D|Vide, as its namesake suggests the hydration bladder divides your liquid needs into two separate compartments. One for water, and one for sports drink. No need for extra bottles or extra bladders. Not so sure about using a hydration bladder for sticky sports drinks that tend to go bad if you forget about them? Thanks to a number of Source’s own technologies, the bladders should stay clean no matter what you put in.

Inside the D|Vide bladder you’ll find a flexible split between the two compartments. That makes the capacity of each side adjustable, adding up to the full capacity, i.e. 1 liter of sports drink and 2 liters of water in a 3 liter bladder. Each side includes a color coded hose using blue for pure water and orange for the energy drink.

Chances are good that if you’re in the U.S. you’re more familiar with hydration names like Camebak and Hydrapak, but Source has been around since 1989. Based out of Israel, Source is also known for their sandals, tactical gear, and other accessories, but their hydration bladders have some unique technology that makes the D|Vide possible.

Constructed from a muti-layer polyethylene film that uses their Glass-Like technology, the bladders claim to have surfaces that are 2000% smoother than standard TPU films. Combined with their Grunge-Guard technology which is an FDA approved and EPA registerd anti-microbial agent, the bladders and drinking tubes are said to be self cleaning while the Widepac closure makes it easy to get in and scrub if need be. All the parts also claim to be taste and odor free from the beginning while also BPA and Phthalate free.

While the D|Vide bladder would be perfect for your Source hydration bag, the design should also fit most other hydration packs. Available in 2L/70 oz or 3L/100 oz options both bladders retail for $44.00, and are currently on sale for $39.60 from the Source web store. The D|Vide bladders can be purchased now online and will be in stores starting early next year.

I’ve been doing this for awhile by using a small Source along with my 3l one in my Dueter bag.

Trek did this 10+ years ago with a reservoir called ‘Blender’ and it worked terribly.

Side note; a bladder is what you take a piss out of, a reservoir is what you put water into for your hydration pack.

This, I like.

Plus, being roll top you can actually clean it without spending £37,000 on tools.

This idea is very cool, but having both tubes run inline with each other and having a mouthpiece with a diverter valve that dictated which reservoir you drew from seems like a much better solution than having two hoses running independently.

@SamSkjord

I hope you’re using the nice artisanal reservoir cleaning tools from Brooklyn Hipster (deleted) Consortium, made out of old-growth pine, ivory tusks and pewter bristles. With each purpose, they’ll donate a roll of toilet paper to someone in India and French Guinea.

Personally, I never bring nutrition or hydration on bike rides. Only food and drink.

I designed a reservoir in 1999 which is very similar in design to this reservoir, what I did though, I had the two drink hoses together in a shealth and the bite valves formed a “T” shape, with one bite valve blue and the other red. Although I never did bring them to market, the idea was somewhat followed by Trek a few years later.
