Timbuk2 x Red Hook Crit travel backpack

Wanna keep it simple? The new Timbuk2 x Red Hook Crit travel backpack is their lightest weight bag ever, and it converts from duffel bag to backpack in seconds. It’s a ripstop nylon material with shoulder straps that tuck away and hide when not in use. Perhaps more clever, either shoulder strap can be clipped to the opposite side on the bottom, creating a quasi-messenger bag, too.

The single main compartment’s full zip wraps around the body to make a huge opening with a bit of internal zip storage compartments. It’ll fit a helmet, shoes, riding gear and a few extra small items, or a weekend’s worth of normal clothes. The bottom panel is reflective, and additional reflective hits throughout keep you visible at night. An external U-Lock pocket sits on the left side. Retail is $99, also available in black.

If you prefer something a little more wild in its appearance, the Prospect is their new backpack that’s insanely customizable…

Maybe this color pattern’s not for you, but it illustrates just how many different panels and piping you can alter, creating a bag that’s as gawdy or subdued as you like.

Starting at $124, it’s a mid-sized pack with internal laptop and separate tablet sleeves and other organization, stealth top zip for quick computer removal (think airport security) and a front flap pocket big enough for most tablets. The top can be closed as a roll top, or remove the buckles and just flap it over and secure with velcro. The material is weatherproof and TPU lined.

Tons of fabrics and colors are at your disposal. Just leave an hour off your calendar to fiddle with the customizer.

That travel back looks clever, but I don’t want to advertise hipster fixie racing so I’ll hold out for a Cross Crusade edition.

“Hipster fixie racing”? Wow. You know, it’s bike racing! BIKES, bicycles. Have you seen the “cross” crowd lately? Talk about hipsters. Anyway, cool back pack.
