Other than the visibly different tread pattern and “3C’ scrawled on the side, there’s no definite information available on these new tires yet. They’re being tested by Pivot Cycles Factory Team’s World Cup riders aboard the new Pheonix DH bike introduced earlier this year.

The tread pattern is unlike anything else in their current lineup, and the tread blocks use a variety of steps and ramps that should make for a very fast rolling knobby with flat rear ends to dig in during braking. Well supported side knobs should hold their own on the corners and off camber sections. Written in market on the sidewall was “3C”, likely a reference to their triple compound rubber.

Word is this tire does already have a model name, but people weren’t talkin’. More pics below…

C’mon, be honest. These are the new training camps for the hordes of genetically modified ant soldiers the CIA has been perfecting for years…

I am part of the Maxxis prototype test program and I thought it was pretty clear to the test riders to NOT share or NOT take pictures of prototype tires…..

Oh Maxxis, what are you doing over there? Will this industry never change? My offer of helping with designing tires still stands (I designed the HR2 remember?)
