2014-bos-dizzy-xc-mountain-bike-suspension-forkBOS Mountain Bike Suspension has thus far been known mainly for their long travel forks and not so known in the states. That’s changing, thanks to both a distribution deal for North America and the new Dizzy XC fork.

First, they shortened things with the 140mm Deville AM enduro fork introduced at Sea Otter last year. Now, the Dizzy brings things down to 100-120mm travel and introduces a new closed cartridge damping system. The basics: It’s air sprung, has external compression and rebound controls, magnesium lowers and 32mm 7075 aluminum sliders and 7075 crown/steerer. Claimed weight is 1580g (3.48lb) and will initially be only for 29ers. A 27.5″ is coming shortly thereafter.

Now for the details: The new damping cartridge shaves weight off the open bath system used in their other forks and was designed specifically for the Dizzy. That said, a modified version of it went into the Deville AM, suggesting it carries forward the smooth operation BOS is known for.

The compression controls get three settings, S/M/H (presumably Soft, Medium & Hard) with damping set as would be expected. The M setting is intended for most riding by setting it up to actively accommodate the normal bumps and jumps without diving too easily into travel on the big hits. The H is said to be very firm, but not a lock out.

A nice, flat lever should make settings changes easy with or without gloves.

The final trick features is a new tapered 15mm thru axle. The center section slims down to save weight.

Available March 1, 2014, for €1,190.
