2014 Diamondback Podium 7 road bike with 50th anniversary campagnolo group

Diamondback’s Podium 7 road bike isn’t brand new, but they are giving one away built with the 80th Anniversary Campagnolo Super Record group set and HED wheels and cockpit. To celebrate, Steve Hed also built one up with one of several complete thirty year old 50th Anniversary groups he had laying around. Yes, that’s about a $5,000 retro group that still (mostly) fit on a modern day carbon bike. Even those downtube mounted friction shifters didn’t seem to be an issue!

Click on through for close up pics of the parts and a look at their new mountain bikes…

2014 Diamondback Mason FS 29er full suspension trail mountain bike

Eric Porter’s been testing and refining the Mason FS (Full Suspension) 29er for quite a while. We spotted one last summer, and everytime we see him, he’s pretty pumped on it. It’s an all-mountain bruiser with 140mm front and rear travel, 66.5° head angle and chainstays just under 18″.

It gets a revised Knucklebox suspension design with lower main rocker pivot that’s centered in the downtube for better force distribution. It also gets a stiffer seatstay bridge.

2014 Diamondback Carbon Overdrive Pro 29er hardtail mountain bike

The new Carbon Overdrive Pro 29er hardtail joins the existing alloy models. Frame is based on the AMMP (Advanced Monocoque Molding Process) from the Podium 7 road bike.

Frame weight is claimed at 1000g, and the same frame is used across the three spec levels. They’ll offer three builds:

  • X0 and carbon Easton cockpit
  • X9 with alloy Easton parts
  • X7 with house brand parts.

All bikes get Fox front forks, retail is TBD. All new mountain bikes should be out this fall.

Hey Diamondback,
NO thanks for excluding my participation in your “special edition” contest. Not everybody drinks the FB koolaid.

I’m so out of the FB loop that I didn’t even know what you meant by “FB” until I clicked on the contest link. Now, I’m in complete agreement with you. I even thought there was a regulation that disallowed restrictions on participation in drawings/contests like this.

David/Brad,
No FB, then don’t complain and kwit your trolling posts.

That DB carbon road frame is just sick. It’s gotten really good reviews on many of the bike review sites and magazines. This is just a boutique version of it.

I really like the swoopy design of that carbon mtb bike – but I don’t understand why they didn’t route all the cables internally – makes for a much much nicer and cleaner looking bike.
Also prefer to have rear disc brake inside of rear triangle.

Campagnolo on a DiamondBack is a sin.

I respect Steve Hed, but I am totally with Anon on this, Campy 50th on that thing? That is (deleted).

@anon. Taking pride in something you have no hand in is a sin. Just because you spent more on your bike doesn’t make it or you better. Sooooooo sick of haters like you.
