Riivo custom carbon fiber cycling shoes

Riivo offers stock and full custom cycling shoes made with carbon fiber soles and premium upper materials, all handmade by Austin-ite Brad Harper.

Harper has been making speedskating shoes for 20 years, but has transitioned to cycling shoes because he was already making them for himself and the market is much larger. He makes the entire shoe, and the custom shoes are full custom from bottom to top, all made completely in his workshop. Including the screen printing and embossing.

He uses high end Majilite microfiber on the uppers with three different upper options – laces w/ buckle, buckle and straps or Atop dials, which is the lightest.

The outsoles are made two different ways, either a single carbon fiber layer or the higher end dual layer with the upper sandwiched between them. The dual piece has a flatter upper with an indented lower that creates a super stiff box section when put together.

They’re light, with one of the smaller sizes coming in at just 199g.

He’s based in Willis, TX. For non locals, he has a molding kit and video that lets them remotely send their feet in for custom builds. Stock sizes start at $575 and custom can go all the way up to $1,400. Above are some foot molds he was taking at NAHBS.

Austin-ite? You mean Houston-ite. Regardless, I want.

Whoa, that’s some tough pricing to swallow at first glance, but in the end if they eliminate hot spots and make riding more enjoyable I guess it makes sense. I mean, I’ve passed over $2000 stock frames for $5000k custom ones, how’s this different?!

Very impressive fit and finish. If you are even considering a sidi wire, this should be on your radar.

Brad made a pair of custom size 14EEEE for me and they are the best bike shoes I ever owned. They are fabulous on Century Rides. Feet never hurt during or after a ride. They are extremely light and very well made. Definitely worth the money if you have the cash.
