Also available on grey! Worst thing shimano ever made. They used to say they had to be installed no matter what. The only thing close in stupidity was the spring holder on the Altus cantis. They all cracked in half.

Michael is right. Well, and Fatboy.

For the record, this was not the worst thing Shimano ever made, but I took them off bikes when working on them. The plastic breaking spring covers are far worse.

I hate those Shimano “au-toe-in” damnned plastic-screw-up-a-set-of-brake-pads …. first thing I did when I was building a bike with cantilever brakes was to loosen the pads and then chuck these in the garbage then set the brakes up correctly…. Does anyone remember how much of a pain in the backside it was to try to get your toe-in correct with these thangs on the bike!! I swear if I see one on a bike I’m gonna freak!!

LOL. I never knew what those were for until now. I always just took them off because they were in the way. Agreed on the Plastic spring retainers but now I still make money every year selling new brakes. So thanks Shimano!

Answer from Jeff at First Flight Bicycles:

“Shimano brake parts that were supposed to automatically set the pad toe-in on cantilever brakes………..and no they didn’t work!”
