Stage Race Distribution, who are now handling Lake shoe distribution for the US and Canada, have been playing around with some cool shoe color schemes and are giving you a chance to win the result!  In stealth black or blinding white, Lake has built 50 pair of their flagship CX 401 road shoes.  Sharing the same heat moldable carbon fiber soles, kangaroo leather uppers, and BOA closure with the standard CX 401, these handsome shoes will be landing at Stage Race within the next few weeks.

Of course, if you don’t win, the 49 remaining limited edition CX 401s (sizes 42-47) are available from Stage Race at info@stage-race.com for $525–only $26 more than the standard edition–and ship free to the US via FedEx.  Want to see the entire Lake line or fondle the limited edition CX 401s yourself?  Swing on by booth 4091 during Interbike next week.

How can you win?  Step right over the break to find out!

Hop on over to Bikerumor’s Facebook page and, below the “WIN!  A pair of limited edition LAKE CX 401 shoes” post tell us in fifteen words or less why the black or white shoes are cooler than the white or black version.  The post with the most Likes by Monday, September 17 will win a pair in the size and color of their choice (subject to availability- if desired color/size is unavailable, a standard CX 401 and a custom shoe bag will be substituted).  Of course, the earlier you post your entry, the more people will see it and the more Likes it can accrue- so don’t wait!

It seems like they may check a lot of boxes (boa, esoles, kangaroo leather), but they look hideous in that photo.

Maybe they look better in person, but I can’t see how.

Most of the time I believe simple is better. So while these lack color or graphics of any kind there are too many different materials and textures mucking it up.

Lake, if you’re reading this I’d more than happy to offer some redesign ideas. I can provide a CV upon request.

I think in this case, winning, is not getting the shoes.
Chris speaks the truth. I hope the heels light up when you walk.

Well, I personally love em and they have been some of the best reviewed shoes on the market b
And I saw them in person at the Canadian Bike Expo last week and yes, they do look better up close.
The white shoes are much more of a consistent color in person, and the black ones are just damn stealthy.
To each his own, I suppose!

I myself got to see them at Expocycle as well. They’re gorgeous in person, people don’t know what the hell craftsmanship is these days. (Also, stop by the Stage-Race booth and meet the amazing people running the show there)

I already own a pair of 3 year old CX401, and they are amazing. Some of the best shoes I’ve ever used. I personally love the colour ways or none colour ways, depending on what way you look at it. I spotted a pair in white and blue a few years back and they looked crazy. Good work

I also own a pair of CX401’s, I love them. For me the stealth black is the way to go. I wish I had the money to get a pair.
