213 HED Stinger 5 and Ardennes disc brake road and cyclocross bike wheels

HED’s Stinger 5 carbon tubular and Ardennes alloy tubulars and clinchers will now have a disc brake hub option. They teased these a while back, but now they’re in stock and shipping. Both use CenterLock hubs and can be had with Campy or Shimano/SRAM freehub bodies.

Stinger Disc is $2,100 and Ardennes are $1,300. Both use the same rim as their standard models, so you could run calipers if you need to…

The Vanquish is an all-new aero clincher wheelset that uses a 60mm deep carbon rim that’s made in-house in Minnesota. It uses the Stinger profile but gets a little higher quality carbon. Wheel weights are 670g and 873g, retail is $2,500.

Great rims but HORRIBLE hubs. I can’t think of a better wheelset that HED C2 rims on DA7900 hubs with DT Aerolites or DT Revolution spokes.

HED please use a cup and cone hub!

@Dans…you solved your own problem…if you hate the hubs…buy the rim and build what ever combo you want…

I’ve heard a lot of complaints on their hubs, but I have 4 sets of their wheels which all see CX use by 2 different riders. All 4 sets are at least 1 season old and I haven’t installed a single new bearing and not one hub has needed to be adjusted. I’ve broken a few spokes, but even then the wheels were surprisingly true.

What’s the rear spacing – 130 or 135?

I concur with the hubs. I have a pair of Ardennes SL, Ardennes FR, and Stinger 4’s. All needed new rear bearings within 8 months. I ride/race a lot, but I barely weigh 130 and treat these things with TLC. Beyond that they ride like a dream.
