2013 Corima Viva MCC S carbon spoke road bike wheels add alloy hubs to lower price

Corima’s new Viva MCC “S” tubular wheelset gets a new 32mm deep rim and uses a new alloy hub to cut about €300 from their full carbon MCC. Fortunately, it gets some sweet tech and improvements of its own. The axle has an oversized alloy main section with a thinner titanium section under the freehub body. This keeps it stiff and light and gives them room to put bigger bearings under the cassette. The pawls use two springs to provide stronger engagement, one over the pawl and one under it.

They’ll carry a €2,590 MSRP, weights are 460g front and 630g rear. The carbon spokes are not only lighter than steel spokes, they are bonded to the rim which means the rim can be lighter because it doesn’t need a reinforced spoke bed.

Not on display, the Viva and Up tubular wheels will get a carbon clincher rim for 2013. Detail pics of the MCC S below…
