Haro is hoping to make inroads into the 29r market with their all new carbon FL (Flightlight) 29r. The frames may be carbon but the complete offerings will be very reasonably priced. Their top of their line build kit will feature an XT groupo and will retail for aprx $3400, SLX will set you back $2400, and  a Deore kit will be retail for less than $2,000.

The most important part of any bike is the frame. Since all three price points are built around the same carbon frame, Haro’s budget price points allow riders to purchase a complete build, at a competitive price point, and upgrade the components as their skill level and interest mature. The complete pictured above features a mix of high and low end bits and weighed a paltry 23.5 lbs.

The FL29 has all the the modern amenities you’ve come to expect – including a tapered steer tube, integrated housing, dropper post routing, and a  BB92 BB.

This build was using 2.1″ tires, but has plenty of clearance for something meatier.

The rear triangle is contoured to be slightly forgiving. The flatter seat stays will help damn vibration and offer a bit of compliance when riding over nasty terrain.

The Haro frame was rolling on unreleased carbon Reynolds 29r rims and wrapped in prototype clement 2.1″ tires.

The frames will also be available in a black and red colorway.

So what about 650b? Haro quietly made 650b bikes for years, but recently phased them out of their line up due to the lack of demand, and the limited selection of components. If the recent buzz surrounding the mid-sized offering stimulates consumer interest, expect Haro to be ready to jump back into the game.
