2013 Cinelli XCR Columbus stainless steel road bike frame gets minor updates

Cinelli’s gorgeous XCR Stainless road bike gets a few updates. Cable stops move from the downtube to the headtube, and the headtube gets reinforcements at top and bottom. Seatstays mount higher on the seat tube to give it wetter clamping force on the post. Still working on colors, but this black colorway will be a 2013 option. Hopefully they’ll still offer it in a full chromed out version, too.

Cinelli’s steel prototype disc brake bike was there mainly to gauge interest…it’s not quite clear if this particular iteration is a cyclocross bike or road bike, but given the name “Souper Corsa”, it’s leaning toward ‘cross according to their U.S. rep Ben Coffey.

It’s based loosely on the Super Corsa road frame, but there’s additional internal cable routing and other changes to accommodate the discs. Retail is likely going to be $3,300 for the frameset with full custom sizing and geometry. Because of this, you really could get it as either a road or cyclocross bike. Presumably you could get it with standard dropouts, too.

Hard to be sure from the photos, but it doesn’t look to have much in the way of tire/mud clearance for a cyclocross bike. And if it is for cx I would drop the threaded headset. But as a road bike, single speed or geared, it looks nice. Needs fender mounts though.

That bike was a prototype and did not have enough clearance for real cyclocross. I think they had 25mm tires on it for the show. All in all it was kinda meh. I’m surprised they were at the show to begin with. NAHBS is not Interbike, at least not yet.
