We spotted the prototype ENVE carbon rear triangles before the tradeshows, and now we’ve got confirmation Santa Cruz is working on it and a new, lighter front triangle to match!

New front triangle is 350g lighter than regular with a different layup and “less material” as delicately explained by their dark lord of marketing.

The rear triangle from ENVE was designed in house by Santa Cruz, they made the molds, the layup was a collaborative effort but mainly left to ENVE. It saves 300g over the standard alloy one, but this is the first rendition. DL Mike Ferrentino says they could probably get another 100g or so out of it but they erred on the side of caution on the first version.

Standard V10 frame weight with shock is about 9.5 lbs, Josh Bryceland’s World Cup race bike shown here is about 8lbs with shock. Lots more pics, plus video of this actual bike crashing, flipping and launching under Josh Bryceland at the Champery World Cup Downhill, after the break…

I’ll be impressed when they introduce carbon fiber coil springs.

You also spotted me chattin’ up a fine female (don’t worry I’ll chase her out of bikes soon). But please, do abide by my interwebs protocol and black bar my eyes. Thx.

Stevil, I’m digging the jaunty quarter-tuck you’ve got going on with your shirt there. A refined look.
