  • Fyxation has a sweet new “Bikes Are Better” shirt (we’ve got one, they’re super nice!), and if you order one today (Friday, May 13), you’ll be entered to win a custom Rickshaw Bagworks messenger bag filled with single-speed-type goodies from Fyxation, Hold Fast and Eighthinch. Buy one through June 15 and 25% of profits go to bicycle advocacy efforts at the Alliance for Biking and Walking.
  • Cytomax has revised their formula to use only Stevia as a sweetener, making it much lighter and more palatable for use during hard exercise. “The new taste profile is lighter, while the product’s efficacy remains intact,” said Nikki Brown, CytoSport Chief Marketing Officer. “Athletes wanted a lighter, more refreshing taste – that’s exactly what we’ve developed.” We tasted it while walking around Sea Otter and it’s definitely tastier.
  • The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (CA) is using Cycle Tracks, a free iPhone and Android app that tracks your route and shows it online, to determine the most active cycling paths and routes used by riders there. The data will be collected through the fall, then used to help them direct alt trans resources to the most heavily used corridors. Brilliant, as long as you don’t mind downloading the app and turning it on before each commute. Via MercuryNews.com.
  • Ever wondered how you’d stack up against the top pros in the Tour de France?  Here’s your chance to find out…and win some amazing prizes in the process. Now you can compete on your own or as a team and ride against your teammates as well as the pros—virtually.  Play the MapMyRIDE 2011 Aquaphor Le Tour Challenge and you’ll be entered to win prizes at the conclusion of each Tour Stage from Trek and more.
  • Currie Technologies has presented the LAPD with two of their iZip e-bikes for use in policing the ‘hood. Pic of the bike after the break.
  • Polar Bottles’ new offices are right off the bike paths in Boulder, CO, and they’re encouraging their employees to commute by bike, many of whom are logging their rides on WorldCommute.com, and have provided nutrition and fitness counseling to their employees in an effort to inspire other companies to step up, via a press release.
