Form Cycles’ Viaje was originally designed as a commuter bike. Then they got mad scientist on it and made it into an all-terrain touring bike that could double as a cyclocross rig.

It took the geometry of a cyclocross and 29er mountain bike and blended them into a titanium do-anything bike. The main triangle is 3/2.5 with 6/4 HT and PFBB30 bottom bracket shell. Then they added S&S couplers but left the welds exposed to show the quality of their workmanship.

Check out the rest of the features, plus their $11,300 stainless steel Revel road bike, after the break…

Chainstays are designed to accommodate road, cross or MTB crank sets.

Custom dropouts from Paragon to create the chain stay mounted disc brake tabs. Rack mounts are custom with hourglass shaping (not shown). Custom Crest rims painted white and built up with DT Swiss hus and spokes match the Ritchey Wet White components…there’s just something about ti frames with white and black accent paint and components that makes us happy. It can also use wheels built up with 700c wheels for for traditional touring bike use.

Nice, smooth welds around the couplers and very cool cable stops make disassembly easy. Standard Inset Headtube, but uses Cane Creek’s 44 to run the tapered Niner carbon fork.

As shown, this frame is $3,770 and components are $4,004 for a grand total of $6,774 $7,774. (stupid math!)

Their stainless steel Revel was decked out with SRAM’s yellow Red group with color-matched pinstriping and Zipp wheels. The frame was painted on the front and left showing the polished metal on the rear.

Paragon internally machined head tube with Chris King’s Builder headset. The frame had rilled out campy cable guides for a very minimal look.

Bottom bracket is PFBB30.

Breezer style dropouts with removable derailleur hanger. Complete bike weight is 15.16lbs. Frame weight is 3.3lbs.

Sticker shock? Maybe, but the frame should last a lifetime. (click to enlarge and see the numbers better)

This was their prototype Prevail 29er mountain bike. It has thinner 5/8″ stays and curved brake bridge, made for a lighter weight rider. They reinforced the brake area due to the smaller tubing. The design offers a bit more rear end compliance.

Don’t get me wrong, these bikes are beautiful and I am totally appreciated the pics…..but I’m just thinking to myself, since when did cycling become such a f-ing country club sport (with prices like this, seriously). Who can afford this or almost any of these bikes we’ve been seeing at the nahbs? It’s like the Rapha garb.

Matt-

The fact that really, really expensive bikes exist does not prohibit you from buying a bike that fits your budget.

Who’s budget does it fit? I guess I’m paying too much to visit my dentist. Cheers

Matt-

You unaware that there are some extremely wealthy people on this planet? I’d say there are thousands of people in the US who could easily afford it. Are you stuck in “The Grapes of Wrath” or something?

Honestly. Don’t feel bad about messing up the prices. If you look at their poster they got the math wrong too!
