Tommasini showed off their VLC-2, a new tube-to-tube (T2T) carbon fiber bike built to measure for the customer.

T2T let’s them not only customize the geometry but also the build type. For heavier riders, they can make it stiffer, or build it lighter for smaller riders. Full features and photos after the break.

They also had their stainless steel X-Fire and classic Tecno road bikes on display, and we got pics…

The VLC-2 has an oversized tapered head tube, and the frame is available with regular or ISP seat mast. Tubing is built exclusively for Tommasini and uses their bell-shaped down tube present on many of their other bikes, including the X-Fire (shown further down this post).

It uses a standard Italian-threaded BB but with an oversized shell. Fork is made by Mizuno but branded Tommasini (used by many other high end builders too).  MSRP is $4995 for frame set. No upcharge for custom geometry. Total capacity for the brand is 2,500 frames annually. 60 to 90 days lead time.

Depending on what you’re looking for, Tommasini builds with all frame materials: stainless, lugged steel, tig welded steel, carbon, aluminum and titanium.

The X-Fire stainless steel frame was introduced in 2010. Irio Tommasini says it’s the highest performance frame they’ve ever made. Lively feel of steel, but lighter weight. Frame is 1,350g (2.97lbs) and retails for $3695 for frame, fork and headset. They keep stock sizes on hand in five sizes, but custom orders make up about 30% of sales.

The Tecno is their best selling frame, making up about 70% of their sales. MSRP IS $2,295 frame and fork. The Sintesi uses less expensive tubing but same build and is $200 less.

It’s available in a wide range of paint schemes.

I wonder how Ridley feels about the Tommasini X-Fire.

First bike looks interesting, but those wheels, ick.
