Orbea, like most high end road bike companies have offered custom builds for awhile now, allowing consumer to pick and choose parts, colors, and sizes. However, some companies are better than others at offering an easy to use interface that will engage the customer and help fuel their passion for their new dream bike.

Hoping to improve on their previously implemented custom bike program, Orbea has now launched MyO (My Orbea), which is an extremely polished program consumers can use to see their dream bike take shape right before their own eyes. While currently limited to the Orca, and the Ordu, the program offers a huge amount of possibilities, and has the possibility of including more models in the future.

The entire program is very easy to operate, and component changes are accompanied by real time changes in overall weight and MRSP.

The question is, is MyO a bike builder, or an art builder? Decide after the break!

After choosing which model you would like to build, you can easily pick the base build for you to modify to suit your liking. In the above case you can decide whether you would like the Ultra-High Modulus Orca Gold, or the High Modulus Orca Silver, in Shimano, Campy, or Sram Trim.

Once you decide on a base trim, you can start to customize most of the individual parts. Tires, wheels, handlebar, stem, saddle, frame color, bar tape, and the crankset can all easily be changed with immediate representation on the screen. While there aren’t hundreds of options for each individual aspect, the amount of customization is still enough to satisfy all but the most anal retentive customers. This really isn’t an issue, due to the fact that nearly anyone unhappy with the amount of choices given, would probably just buy a frame and build it up themselves anyways.

Now, this is where the art comes in. Once a customer is finished building their dream bike, they have the opportunity of changing the background to one of 5 interesting choices, and toggling off the build specs leaving a beautiful rendering of your bike. From here, consumers have the option of printing out the finished build, saving it to MyO, or sending it to a dealer to have ordered and built. Overall, the entire process works smoothly, with few hang ups or glitches and quickly allows you to bring your dream wheels to life!
