When Azonic first introduced the Outlaw wheelset a few years ago, they were so instantly popular that they were almost constantly sold out. They were a very durable wheelset, that came stock with adapters to fit almost every hub and frame combination available, all at a very reasonable price.

Azonic is building on their success by slowly making them lighter, and now offering the 26 inch version in the 5 colors as shown above, but perhaps the most interesting bit is that for 2011 they will be offering the burly wheel in a 29r version!

The Outlaw 29ers will continue the tradition of fitting every bike under the sun, straight out of the box. While the front wheel will convert from standard QR, to QR15 and 20mm thru axles, the rear will also convert from standard 135mm spaced quick release, to the more and more common 142 x 12mm thru axle. Rims will be a stout 7075 aluminum, double wall, welded, pinned, and eyeletted deal with 32 spokes per wheel.

The wheels will initially be available only in black to gauge interest, and unfortunately no word on  weight or MSRP, although expect them to be close to the price of the 26 inch models. If you’re looking to build up an all mountain or DH 29er and not sink all your money into the wheels just to have something that will hold up, these could be the answer!
