Fortunately, for bikers all over Colorado we’ve had some pretty amazing weather lately.  So Amazing, in fact, that shorts are the perfect choice.  I’m certainly not complaining about the opportunity to enjoy the trails or to test out some new Luna gear…

The Moon Buggy Short from Luna Sport have become my go-to short for a day on the trails.   They were even my choice for an entire day of bike testing at Dirt Demo.   The outer short, with a 7″ inseam, is very comfortable for an active day yet stylish enough to be worn out.  I could see skipping the liner and wearing them for a day at the park or on a hike (the activity of walking on trails… without your bike, crazy I know).

Made of woven nylon the outer short has a substantial feel while not restricting movement.  I feel more comfortable knowing they will provide more protection not if, but when I hit the ground.  I also know they won’t get trashed after one chance encounter with a rocky trail.

I was pleasantly surprised by the chamois on my first ride.  The removable liner is cut more like a “brief”, perfect for a hot day and more freedom of movement.  The chamois, Marla’s Moto Pad, is a bit more petite and quite comfortable.  I usually opt for less padding on a mountain bike, this chamois is the perfect partner to a great pair of shorts.
Other features of the short include a nice wide 1.25″ waistband without any pressure points, a loose-fit design and adjustable D-ring cinch straps to customize the fit of the waistband.  Designed by Marla Streb, World Cup Downhiller and women’s cycling advocate extraordinaire, the Moon Buggy Short is a great all around short.  Good construction and a comfortable, flattering fit make these shorts a great purchase at $100.  The Moon Buggy is available in black, stone and Luna blue.
