Interbike 2010: Wild Colors and Designs from Twenty6

With a history of incorportating an incredible mix of color, attention to detail, and precision into its designs, twenty6 did not disappoint as they had on display two of the most complete customs of the show. Both bikes started as a stock Intense 951 frame, but they didn’t stay that way for long. Tyler from twenty6 left practically zero parts untouched as the blue and yellow bike shown here received the full twenty6 treatment.

The amount of detail is amazing and can really only be truly appreciated in person, which was enhanced due to Tyler’s custom spinning display stand.

In addition to the blue and yellow bike, Tyler also had a crazy green and orange number that he could be seen pedaling around Outdoor Demo.

This is the bike that originally got my attention, and it’s not hard to figure out why. After seeing Tyler riding through the show, I had to track him down to get the scoop. This actually his bike that he rides on a regular basis. While the paintwork/powder coating is showing some wear, it looks no worse than any other used DH bike except it looks better due to the outrageous colors!

Green or Orange, take your pick.

Shift paddles, ODI clamps, etc. No detail overlooked.

Even the parallelogram of the rear derailluer was customized.

Not only does Tyler make some amazing parts, he also is pretty good when it comes making displays with one of the cooler booths at the show due to the pedals and stems being mounted on rotating pedestals. In the middle there, is the new twenty6 direct mount stem that will be offered in two sizes. Each stem will have two adjustments in 5 mm increments, one being a 40/45mm and the other at 50/55mm.

The ever popular twenty6 platform pedal also gets some revisions to make it stronger and more grippy. The oversized tapered axle now spins in a Turcite bushing at the large end, and finishes with a smaller sealed bearing. The new bushing will be more durable than a bearing, and keep the pedal spinning smoothly even after repeated hits.

The pedal body itself is now more concave and slightly thinner than previous. It of course features the tenacious grip and big money looks twenty6 pedals have become known for.

The blue and yellow intense is almost tasteful but that green bike is a disaster. I don’t understand how aftermarket customization is such big business. A thompson here, anodized chris king hubs there…cool – titanium after market replacement for the plastic doo hicky that keeps the front brake line in place ?
