Bikerumor Pic Of The Day: Bicycle Obelisk
This most unusual monument to cycling can be seen in the city of Santa Rosa, CA. Artists Mark Grieve and Ilana Spector used recycled bicycles to make this 60 foot tall monument titled “Cyclisk”. It is located in front of Good Stuff Auto on Santa Rosa Avenue. Photo submitted by Sebastian.

That’s awesome. Hope it’s nonferrous.
Why is that a monument? I call it a travesty! Those should be bikes on the road, if it was made of car’s it would be a monument for us cyclist.
They don’t make the war memorials from dead bodies do they?
Jorge beat me to it. My first reaction was “awesome”, then my second reaction was my stomach turning. I wonder how many usable parts were in there. How many usable bikes could have been made from those parts? Hopefully, not many lol…
Jeez…don’t lose any sleep & take some antacid… you could make dozens of those monuments in any given city and not make a dent in the preverbial mountain of old clunkers, junkers, & forgotten bikes. The availability of these bikes goes deep. Fact is…who exactly is gonna rebuild & refurbish all these bikes.
My local bike co op could easily build a handful of these and still have too much “stuff” laying around in the storage yard. the pile grows faster than we can move them out (to charity)
