company-store-catalog-wicker-bicycleThe Spring 2010 The Company Store catalog had this wicker and wood bicycle on the cover but, sadly, it was not for sale anywhere in the catalog.  Anyone know who makes this?  I’ve stared at it for a while now and can’t tell if the stays and seat tube are just wrapped in wicker or actually wood as the down- and top-tube appear to be.  And I’m not quite sure what that rear brake cable is doing other than activating a big hub brake of some sort (click the image above to enlarge it).

Anywhoo, that wicker seat is wicked cool, and the chainguard ain’t too shabby either.

It’s a Chinese brand…rattan-trimmed gaspipe with “wood-look” vinyl wrapping on some of the main tubes. They pop up on Craigslist all the time here in Florida. Word on the street says they’re utter crap.

Cool, but it’s a wicker clad gas pipe steel bike!

I saw a bike just like this on Ebay last year. The seller had it posted as a wooden bike, but it was obviously just a cheap 60’s 3-speed clad in bamboo and rattan.

Whoa there bike cowboys … you know not what you speak of.

I have three of those bikes and not only are they works of art but they ride fast and smooth around town. I also own a Pashley and several vintage Chicago Schwinns.

No know, no speaky.
