This broke (the story, not the bike) in a few places in November, but worth showing if you haven’t seen it.  This is the extreme end of what Trek’s Project One team can do in terms of customization and, frankly, makes Lance Armstrong’s 1274 bike look lame in comparison.

Click images to enlarge for detail and you’ll see the trademark Wired color bar pattern running throughout the graphic strips.  The orange fishbelly color scheme is only visible from an angle or underneath, giving the frame more dimensionality and color while remaining understated.

The Wired Madone was designed by the magazine’s creative director Scott Dadich and products editor Mark McClusky along with Trek’s product art director Mike Pfaltzgraff.  The paint is prismatic silver and the color blocks are a chronological representation of every Wired magazine spine since the first issue in January 1993.

It’s on display at the NYC Wired pop-up store, where you can also design your own dream bike, through the holidays.  There are also six bicycles available for purchase from their store, but not this racer.
