Tony Ellsworth didn’t go to all the trouble to source environmentally responsible “Rare Earth” carbon fiber material and construction just to make the Enlightenment mountain bike.  No, no, he went ahead and designed two new full-carbon road bikes:  The COercion (above), a pure road bike, and the COefficient, an aerodynamic time trial/triathlon bike (shown after the break).

The COefficient is a 940g frame that uses Ellsworth’s “force directional” frame layup design to provide a supple, efficient ride by providing a little vertical compliance in while maintaining lateral stiffness.  Both bikes are manufactured in a facility that’s certified to provide clean air and proper disposal of the carbon dust, and have trained technicians working on the bikes at every stage of the process.  We covered Tony’s story and commitment to sustainable carbon fiber manufacturing in another post, so we’ll just focus on the bikes.

The frame is available in four sizes: 50cm (sm), 53 (med), 56cm (large) and 59cm (xl).  All tubes are High Modulus carbon.

Shaped chainstays offer vertical compliance and lateral rigidity.

The COefficient is aimed at the Time Trial and Triathlon crowd, and uses a two-position (76º or 79º) seat post to fit either discipline. and the post has a full range of up/down adjustment.

The COefficient comes in four sizes also, but starts at an XS 48.3cm seat tube, going to 50.1cm, 53.7cm and 56.9cm for the S, M and L respectively (all sizes are seat tube measurements).
